Christmas Parade

The streets of downtown Bullard will be filled with the Christmas spirit as the City of Bullard and the Bullard Area Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Bullard Christmas Parade and The City of Bullard is hosting the second annual Bullard Christmas Kick-Off! Events begin at 6 pm on Thursday, Dec. 8th, 2016.  The parade will feature several school organizations and clubs from Bullard Independent School District and The Brook Hill School, as well as citywide organizations and entities, such as the Bullard Fire and Police Departments. Attendees will also have the chance to catch a rare glimpse of a "special guest," who is extremely busy around the holiday season, but always seems to pay a visit to Bullard for the Christmas event. According to reports, the "special guest" will be making a list and checking it twice, in an effort to find out who's naughty and nice.  Hot cocoa and sugar cookies will be provided at no charge.

“The Christmas parade will be honoring our veterans by having a holiday heroes segment of the parade,” said Tiffany Fletcher, Bullard Christmas Parade volunteer coordinator. “If a group had made a float for the BACC Red, White, and Blue Festival with a patriotic theme, they are invited to participate in the Christmas parade. They will need to add lights to their parade floats to participate.  We are also going to have a donation site for care package items we will be sending to our soldiers overseas that will be away from their families over the holidays.”

Perhaps the biggest highlight is the possible inclusion of an ice rink for ice skating and/or a snow hill for sledding.  Details are still being worked out for the four hour event and the community is urged to wear warm clothing, socks, gloves and warm hats. These events will be free to the community to participate in, thanks to the generous donation by TransCanada and The City of Bullard.

During the event, businesses, community organizations, and school organizations are invited to compete in the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest. Trees for the Bullard Christmas Tree Decorating Contest must be artificial and at least six-feet tall. They must have lights and weather friendly decorations, meaning no paper, glass or porcelain decorations. Trees will need to be tied down with wire or zip ties, while ornaments will need to be twist tied to branches on trees. Trees must be set up at a designated area along the Bullard “four-way” anytime between Monday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Dec. 3. Prizes will be given for trees winning the designations of Most Original, Most Traditional, Most Religious, Most Kid Friendly, and Most Beautiful.
